Sewer System Upgrade Map

16th Avenue Water Main and Roadway Improvements Project

This project will improve 16th Avenue from St. Charles Road to Railroad Avenue. The project will include the installation of a new water main and new water services. Additionally, the existing pavement along the limits will be milled and resurfaced with Hot-Mix Asphalt and minor repairs will be made to the existing curb and gutter.

The new 8" water main will be installed beneath the parkway on the west side of the roadway, approximately 4’ on the public side of the property line. New copper water services will be installed to each of the residential properties. Public sidewalk and the adjacent driveway aprons will be replaced as part of the water main restoration and disturbed areas of the parkways will be restored with sod.

Notice to Residents
The contractor will pass out a notice to the residents approximately 24 hours prior to performing any work that will interrupt access to their driveway aprons. The contractor will backfill the water main trench with stone and temporarily restore access to the driveway aprons by the end of the day. During the installation of utility work, certain sections of the street may need to be closed during the day to allow for the installation of the proposed water main/ storm sewer improvements. The streets will be re-opened to local traffic after work hours.

The contractor may post “No Parking” signs on certain sections of street where he will be working during the day. Residents will be allowed to park their vehicles on the street overnight however; we ask that while the contractor is working adjacent to your property, you have your vehicle moved prior to 7:00am to reduce the possibility of accidental damage from the construction machinery. We do not anticipate that there will be any changes to garbage collection services. Notice will be given to all affected residents if any changes in service are necessary.

19th Avenue Water Main and Roadway Improvement Projects
The project will improve 19th Avenue from Oak Street to Railroad Avenue. The project will include the installation of a new water main and new water services on 19th Avenue from St. Charles Road to Railroad Avenue. Additionally, the existing pavement along the limits will be classified according to the following two groupings:

  • Section A-  19th Avenue, from Oak Street north to the St. Charles Road Alley, will be completely reconstructed with a concrete base and a Hot-Mix Asphalt overlay.
  • Section B-  19th Avenue, from the north side of St. Charles Road to Railroad Avenue will be milled and resurfaced with Hot-Mix Asphalt.
The new 10" water main will be installed beneath the pavement on the west side of the roadway. New copper water services will be installed to each of the residential properties, as well as larger water services to the various public buildings. In pavement section A, 6' public sidewalk and the adjacent driveway aprons will be replaced as part of the water main restoration and disturbed areas of the parkways will be restored with sod. Pavement section B is located in a business district and will include streetscaping, including brick work and raised planter boxes to accompany the proposed concrete sidewalk replacement.

Notice to Residents
The contractor will pass out a notice to the residents approximately 24 hours prior to performing any work that will interrupt access to their driveway aprons. The contractor will backfill the water main trench with stone and temporarily restore access to the driveway aprons by the end of the day. During the installation of utility work, certain sections of the street may need to be closed during the day to allow for the installation of the proposed water main! storm sewer improvements. The streets will be re-opened to local traffic after work hours.

However, in Section A of the street repair, full width replacement of the existing pavement cross-section will be necessary. Due to the narrow width of the street, the entire roadway will be closed for an extended period during the removal of existing base and placement of proposed concrete base. Access to any driveways along 19th Avenue will be lost during this period of construction.

In section B, the contractor may post "No Parking" signs on certain sections of street where they will be working during the day.
